Intro to Me (BEDA Day 3)

Hello ladies and gents!!

Since nothing super interesting happened today I thought I'd share a little more about myself, starting with me as a child.

A fun fact about me is that I didn't start talking til I was about 3 years old. I had the ability, and I could have if I had wanted to, but my sister was a perfect translator for me so I guess I just didn't see the point in it. On the other hand, my dad has said many times that once I chose to start talking I never stopped. Thanks for that, Daddy. :)

I started dancing before I started walking and so on my 3rd birthday the natural thing to do was put me into ballet classes. I've been dancing ever since and it became the first real passion in my life. I later went on to audition and attend the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham [where I lived in the dorms] for high school majoring in dance. I danced 3-5 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Before high school I did everything from ballet to Irish dancing. I love all types of dancing....and when I say love, I mean it. I get a little sick of it every now and then but in the end I'd rather be dancing than anything else in the world. It makes me sooo happy!

Another obsession of mine is definitely Disney. I love everything Disney and if you know me, then that's the first thing you probably hear about. I now work at Disney World, but before that I loved all of the movies and chose the best princess as my favorite: Belle. I really don't have much more to say about Disney except that I could go on and on for days about it so I'd better stop now!

Now that I'm in college I'm a theatre major [I wish we had a dance major....alas] and I hope to take my performance studies to Disney in the future to work there wherever I can find a decent job. Since I'm not much of an actor, and my singing won't be more than average, I started looking in to another aspect of theatre: stage management. I've really started to enjoy it. Stage management is basically being the middle man and the person to run a stage production. I've only been an Assistant Stage Manager before, so this upcoming fall I've taken on my first Stage Management position and it has already started to be a handful. I'm learning a lot about all aspects of the theatre because of stage management and it is giving me an even better understanding of what it takes to create a show.

My last big obsession [because apparently this post has become more about obsessions than myself] is Harry Potter. Now, I'm not to my friend Madeleine's level of obsession, but I'm much more into Potter than many people I know. I grew up reading these books since the fourth grade. I've always been an avid reader, so this just made me want to read all the time. I went to book release parties, midnight movie showings, and this summer I will attend my second Harry Potter conference. I have flown to New York City solely for a wizard rock concert. Yes, I am a freak. Yes, I enjoy being a freak. Yes, I love Potter. So there you go.

If there is something in particular you would like to know about me, comment. Let me know what else I can tell you about myself. I'm pretty open about telling people about me and I'd love to share anything that my readers want me to.

I'm not ready for this week but I'm ready for school to be over so I'll hope that these last four weeks go by quickly and successfully!

Goodbye for now!

impromptu trips! (BEDA Day 2)

So....yesterday was my friend Pat's birthday (I know Pat from working at Disney) and I wrote on his wall saying happy birthday and that I wish I could be in Florida to celebrate with him. He replied by telling me that he was on his way to Atlanta, which if you didn't know, it's very close to where I live. So I asked if he'd like to have some more company on his birthday and after he said of course I headed over for the 2 hour trek! I got there and we were ready for an amazing night! Pat was with 3 of his other guy friends for a weekend of wrestling (something called wrestlemania?? *gag*) but last night was their free night so we went out to eat and then went back to the hotel room for some more drinks. We got changed into nicer attire and headed out for a night on the town.

Boy, was Atlanta fun! We went to the Opera nightclub and it was free for me (yay for being a girl) and I even got my first drink free! I loved the night with the guys and we spent hours dancing, drinking, and living it up!! Pat had an excellent birthday, and I got to dance ALL NIGHT!! It was way too much fun!

The next day Pat asked me if I had time enough to stay and go to Six Flags with him so that he could ride the two new coasters to get his count of roller coasters up to 334. That's a lot of coasters! We had a good time, but we couldn't stay too long because I had to get home...besides, the park was ridiculously crowded. We only rode three rides and it took us over 3 hours to ride them all, including the kiddie coaster!

I'm home now and I'll introduce myself to you soon, don't worry! Keep reading!!

Beginning of BEDA! (Day 1)

Well hi there, commitment! How are you doing?

Seriously though, this is just another piece of work on top of an already immense month, but here I am! Let's give this Blog Every Day in April a try!

Today is April Fool's Day, obviously and facebook has EXPLODED with fake engagements. Not that I didn't expect it, since I am getting older and this is a completely ordinary thing in the Deep South to happen around this time in life, but it's annoying and makes me feel like those people are actually looking for a relationship and trying to get everyone's attention so that the potential people to date are wondering if that's true or not. I guess I'm just not a big prankster so this bothers me a little. If you haven't noticed by my previous blogging, I'm a pretty sensitive person, so when people say things to me I trust them and then when they say "haha just kidding!!" I usually get hurt that they would lie to me. But don't worry, I'm usually good at telling when people are joking. I'm talking about when people put me down, tell me that their gf's are pregnant, or say they're moving away ASAP. I can get overly sensitive and it's something I want to change in myself so here's to trying!

In other news, today is a few of my friends' birthdays. We went to the bar last night to celebrate Emily's and Pat is apparently going to be in Atlanta for his birthday. All I have been thinking about lately is when and how am I going to get out of here?! As much as I love coming home after a long time away, I hate this place. I want to roam free and be on my own. I want to escape this bubble of a town. And most of all, I want to be happy. I want to make others happy. I just want to live.

Wow, I've started rambling. This is a good start to the month of blogging! I've been meaning to blog again for a while, but things just get so crazy and I put it aside. But this has helped, just venting a little the way I did. I enjoy blogging, but school gets in the way.

To the readers of this, is there anything you want to know about me??? Leave it in the comments and I'll put that in a later post. I think tomorrow I'll introduce myself to BEDA officially by telling you who I am and what I do that makes me so whiny sometimes!

See you next time!

what do you think?

Should I do BEDA or VEDA??? I can't decide!!!

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

hello February...

Although I have a million other things I need to be doing, I woke up this morning with thoughts in my head that really just need to be out of my brain and into words.

Here's what I thought this morning when I woke up:
"Wow, I have soooooo much work I need to be getting done and no time or motivation to do it! And I'm doing a lot of work, so why can't I get more done? Where is my motivation? And why won't someone motivate me more? Oh....that's right...."

I used to have a motivator. I used to have a friend. So here's my question: why can't guys be my friends? They really only want one thing from me, whether it be a relationship or something more [or less, depending on how you look at it]. I need a guy friend. I enjoy hanging out with guys: they're less dramatic, they keep me grounded, and they could always have my back if I needed them to. But guys don't like just being my friend, and I don't know why. And no one can say it's because they have to have a crush on me, because I'm just not that great. There are a ton of prettier/more fun/awesome girls out there. I'm really nothing special in the grand scheme of things. So how do guys see me? Why do they all abandon me? Seriously, I thought that this semester was going to be the most productive semester ever because I was going to be friends with someone just as motivated and eager to push me as I was to them. And then I get left in the dust. It really kills a girl's self-esteem. What did I do to make you not even want to say hello to me anymore?

The funny part is that I've been more productive this semester than I have in a while, and it still just isn't good enough. Maybe it's because I'm an upperclassman now, maybe it's because the work is just harder; or maybe....maybe it's because I know it could've been ten thousand times better with someone to share it with. A friend that could be by my side just to work a lot, get the job done, have a good time doing it, and get to enjoy the rest of the day with. Ugh, but maybe that sounds like a relationship. I don't want a relationship. I want to have a good time while I still can. So why is my 'good time' being wasted because I keep fretting about grades and my to do list and all the things I could be doing?

I don't get it anymore. All I know is I feel alone, hurt, down on myself about it, and I wanted a friend here with me. I'll get over it now. There's no point in hoping for that to come back anymore.

the beginning of a new year

Hi there, miss me?

I missed me too! Thanks!

I've actually had a ridiculous month and a half. I don't even know where to begin. Florida was amazing. If you've seen any other social networking site or Youtube then you'll have seen my joy for Orlando. And I was really happy to hear that my friends had great holidays too. Little did I know that I would lose a friend. *sigh* here it goes:

This has happened to me before. I guess I should have seen it coming. You see, I don't know why, but guys like me sometimes. [no, really, I have no idea what attracts these guys to me.] They like me enough to where they want to spend almost all of their time with me. And you know what? That's great! I love making friends, and I'm not gonna lie, the attention is nice. I thrive on it. And making friends is so much fun for me because I learn about their lives as much as they learn about mine. But you see, these guys are different. I like them so much that I didn't have any desire to date them/be with them/like them at all in more than anything platonic. And it's so nice to be confident that you can be friends with guys without having any pressure to date them, right? Wrong!! These guys quickly became my close friends and helped me through some rough times. School, life, drama, they got me through it. They were my motivation. They even had me doing things I never thought I would do, and it started making me feel like a better person.

But all good things must come to a sticky end, I guess. There was pressure: pressure for me to date them. One was open about it, and the other...well, he might as well have said it. Everyone knew he liked me. And I hated that I didn't reciprocate those feelings because they are such great guys and good friends and nice people that it killed me that I didn't like them back. I guess they gave up, or they wanted to spite me or they just had to get away from having me in their life because guess what, avid readers. Just guess. They found a girl for themselves. And that meant that I was no longer a part of their life. And I bet you're thinking, but you still hear from them, right? It's not like they literally just stopped talking to you, right? Right?!

Sadly, yes. I was barely given as explanation [and both were weak] as to why two of the greatest supportive friends just weren't going to be there anymore.

A little more detail without giving too terribly much away. One happened a long time ago. I'd gotten over it, had a relapse, and gotten over it again. The other, still days old. It's fresh on my mind. And you know what? I hate that I'm not okay with it. Yes, date who you'd like. No, don't worry about me [not that you were anyway]. But can I PLEASE get over this now? I am a strong person, I have priorities and ideas and dreams that are much stronger than I ever thought they would be. But I've lost two people that went out of their way to try to understand me. They liked me. For me. And do you know what? It sucks knowing that I'm never going to get to talk to them like I thought. I am now seen as the inappropriate, loud, obnoxious old friend.

That was only one of my issues from the past month, but hopefully I'll be writing more often as it seems that I really need to vent about things. If you're still reading, thanks. If not, I still feel better for getting this out there.

oh wow.

Well hello there! Guess who's been ridiculously crazy for the past few weeks?! That's right...this girl!

I got through exams and made this semester the worst [GPA-wise] in my college career. Andrew is going to help me change that next semester. I will be on Dean's List again, I swear! But after this semester I'm on a nice 2 week vacation down here in Florida. I'm typing this up as I wait for the guys to come get me for some food at Buffalo Wild Wings so they can watch the Orlando Magic basketball game. I'm already tired.

I've actually slept less here in Orlando than I did while in school. These past few days have been crazy and it's not stopping for a while!! I finally got myself over to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal and have been to 3 of the 4 Disney parks. It's been fun but FREEZING so far. The past couple of days have been chilled because it's really too cold for me to want to walk around a park. So I've been relaxing and finally got myself to sit down, edit some video, upload some photos, and get excited about new people coming!! Sarah Jean, Ben, Mallory, Helen, Tyler, Chris, and Leah [Chris' friend] are all coming down for a couple of days of fun in the [cold] Florida sun! Chris and I are getting all of us in for free so that Ben can see Disney for the first time and the others can have a good vacation! I hope that they all enjoy themselves and I hope that we all have a good time!

Pat and I saw Tangled today and I was really impressed. It was almost more surprisingly good than Princess and the Frog was. I loved the entire movie and I will definitely be investing in it. Which is funny because I really didn't think I would like it at all. But it was either that or Narnia, and I just really wanted to see a girly movie....finally. I've been hanging out with guys ever since I've been here and I can without a doubt say that I need a girl friend here!!! I get to see my old roomie Bri tomorrow night though and I'm really pumped about that because she's one of my favorite people in the entire world!!!

This blog post was really choppy but I had to write something and that's how fast my mind was changing subjects on me! It's almost time for some chicken wings, a candy apple for dessert, and hopefully a movie that I can enjoy!
